on the Kona Coast of the Big Island |
HONOLULU, OAHU, HAWAII - June 4, 2001 - Outrigger Enterprises has acquired
the management contract of the 154-unit Royal Sea Cliff Resort on the Kona
coast of the Big Island of Hawaii. The Hawaii-based hotel chain will assume
management of the upscale condominium resort at 75-6040 Alii Drive effective
July 1, at which time the property will be re-named the Outrigger Royal
Sea Cliff Resort.
"The Royal Sea Cliff Resort is a magnificent property that fits perfectly within our inventory of luxury, beachfront properties," said Outrigger President David Carey. "Everything about this resort, from its location and ambiance to the quality of the accommodations and services, is an ideal match with Outrigger's emerging brand of upscale, full service resorts." Located on seven acres of prime oceanfront land two miles south of the town of Kailua-Kona, the Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff Resort is a multi-level complex of striking architecture that descends toward the coast to afford dramatic views. The seven-level property consists of spacious studios, one- and two-bedroom suites and four oceanfront villas. Each unit includes a complete kitchen, washer/dryer, air conditioning, lanai and other in-room amenities. On-site recreational amenities include a choice of fresh water or sea water pool, jet spa, sauna, barbeque grills, a tennis court, activity desk, conference room, daily maid service, parking and security. Other optional amenities include cribs, rollaway beds, safe, dry cleaning and oceanside wedding gazebo. The Outrigger Royal Sea Cliff Resort will be the third property operated by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts on the Big Island of Hawaii. The others are the Outrigger Waikoloa Beach, a 545-room resort that is owned and operated by Outrigger; and the Kanaloa at Kona, a 166-unit oceanfront condominium resort managed by Outrigger. Prior to Outrigger acquiring the management contract to the Royal Sea Cliff Resort, the property was managed by Aston Resorts of Hawaii. All personnel will have the option to remain employed at the resort. Outrigger Hotels & Resorts is the state's largest hotelier. The acquisition of the Royal Sea Cliff Resort brings the total number of properties in Hawaii managed by Outrigger Hotels & Resorts and sister brand OHANA Hotels of Hawaii to 31. The properties are on Oahu, Maui, Kauai and the Big Island. Outrigger also manages seven properties throughout the Pacific and Australia, with two additional properties currently under development in New Caledonia and Australia. Since January 2001, Outrigger has acquired five new management contracts, which include the Royal Kahana Resort (Maui), the OHANA Maui Islander Hotel (Maui), The Outrigger Kuendu Beach Resort (New Caledonia), Outrigger 1770 Ocean Beach Resort (Australia) and the Royal Sea Cliff Resort (Hawaii). In 1999, Outrigger Enterprises split its holdings of hotels into two brands -- Outrigger Hotels & Resorts and OHANA Hotels of Hawaii -- to distinguish between the diversity of accommodations and properties offered by the company. The Outrigger Hotels & Resorts brand now represents 24 properties throughout the Pacific considered full-service, luxury beachfront resorts. The OHANA brand represents 16 moderately priced, limited service properties, all of which are in Waikiki, with the exception of the OHANA Maui Islander. Collectively, Outrigger / OHANA Hotels manage a total inventory of 11,360 hotel rooms and condominium units between the 40 properties in Hawaii, Micronesia, Australia and the South Pacific. Outrigger's affiliate, Outrigger Lodging Services, manages nearly two-dozen hotels and resorts throughout the U.S. mainland. |
