DALLAS (Aug. 30, 2001) - Reaffirming its position
as a leader in the business travel and meeting industry, Wyndham International,
Inc. (NYSE: WYN) proudly announces that the National Business Travel Association
(NBTA) has honored Kevin Kelly, Wyndham's vice president of business travel,
with its highest Allied member honor, Allied Member of the Year, for exemplary
character and dedication to NBTA and the business travel profession.
"We are pleased that Wyndham International is being recognized for numerous contributions and gaining market share, particularly in the business transient segment," said Fred J. Kleisner, chairman and chief executive officer of Wyndham International, Inc. "This recognition is evidence that Kevin, as well as our entire sales and marketing team, is making significant strides to position Wyndham as a key player in the meetings and business travel industry." Wyndham's recent achievements in the business
travel industry include:
Bradley Kent, vice president of national sales for Wyndham International, currently serves as director of the Professional Convention Management Association's (PCMA) Education Foundation, a $7 million body responsible for directing research, grants, scholarships and development of education products and services for the convention and meetings industry. Kent, a past recipient of PCMA's Richard A. Daignault Award, also serves on the PCMA education and scholarship task force, nominating committee and is vice chair of the annual PCMA Foundation awards dinner, held each May in Washington, D.C. Dave Johnson, Wyndham's executive vice president of sales & marketing and chief marketing officer, has been named vice chairman of communications and chapter liaison for the Meeting Professionals International Foundation. As a member of the executive committee, he provides guidance to the MPI Foundation and its programs which help formulate the future of the meeting industry through research, forums and certifications for meeting professionals. Cary Jehl Broussard, vice president of marketing for Wyndham's WOMEN ON THEIR WAY program, has been named chair of MPI's Women's Leadership Initiative Program advisory committee. MPI formed this program in January 2001 to recognize, uphold and further the contributions of the professional women who make up 76 percent of its membership. Wyndham's sponsorship of MPI's Women's Leadership Initiatives Program is a natural evolution of Wyndham's award-winning WOMEN ON THEIR WAY program because of its leadership in marketing and catering to the needs of female business travelers. As chair of the 15-member committee, Broussard's expertise will be instrumental in the research and development of MPI educational programs and networking opportunities designed to advance the careers of women throughout the meeting, hospitality and travel industries. Kevin Kelly, Wyndham's vice president of business travel: in addition to being named NBTA's Allied Member of the Year, he has just completed a second term on NBTA's board of directors as president of the Allied Leadership council.
