Concentrates on New Management Company Software Technology |
| Houston, Texas, June 18, 2000 - In these fast-changing
times, yesterday’s great technology ideas are on today’s clearance table,
and you have to bite the bullet and re-invent yourself. Telman has done
that.
Change comes naturally at Telman. Since its inception in 1986, Telman has been credited with improving how the hospitality industry utilizes telecommunications technology. “Our commitment has always been and still is ‘Bringing People and Technology Together to Produce Unprecedented Results’”, says Daniel Prosser, Founder and CEO. As he sees it the hotel industry has benefited from their advocacy role for their clients over the past 14 years. “We were the first company in the hospitality industry to address the telecommunications management needs of hotels. To do that we have had to be willing to change over and over again to accommodate the rapid changes in the telecom and hotel marketplace”. Developing proprietary techniques for managing and producing higher profits from telecommunications technology over the years led Prosser to look at the impact information technology had on people - and particularly people’s performance. That insight led Prosser to conversations with several notable people in the hospitality industry. One in particular included Mr. Michael Harrell, CEO of Vista Host Hotels also headquartered in Houston, who Prosser credits with being a visionary in the development of information design. “In so many ways, Mike and his company were light-years ahead of everyone else in the hotel industry when it came to management company information system design. Mike saw the advantages in developing fundamental reporting and measurement techniques, and put his money where his mouth was by funding an internal MIS department to develop the software.” Harrell met Prosser for the first time in 1994 at an AH&MA conference and asked him to consider buying his software and converting it into Windows and then find a market for it. Prosser and Joe Sullivan, Vista Host’s MIS Director, created a separate Telman company around the software techniques Sullivan had developed combined with Prosser’s vision for a way to impact people’s performance in organizations. In 1996 Telman Decision Information, LLC was formed with Vista Host as its first client - soon followed by Sunstone Hotels in San Clemente, California, and Nobel Investment Group of Atlanta, GA. - early adopters of Telman’s technology, among several others. Since that time, Telman Decision Information rewrote the original version of software into Windows and web-enabled it for other hotel companies. Today, the software is used in the management of over 200 hotels. Over 10,000 hospitality employees rely on it for a variety of business processes. “We fundamentally believe in managing change as a way to improve and grow an organization. We have watched over our client’s as they have embraced the changes our software brings to their organization and the results they have produced with it. Many of our clients have now wrapped their entire organizations around Focused Scorecard® and use it exclusively to manage their daily operations with an ease and response never before possible in their organizations”, says Prosser. With an expanded customer base and a larger outlook for the future,
Telman
